3/8 extra long Hex bits for $18

I like their new screwdrivers. Bought a #2 phillips to try around the shop - I really like it. Handle takes a bit to get used to but is comfortable and transmits good torque.

I have had great success with the tekton impact sockets. have multiple sets. love how they don't skip sizes. they have held up great to my air impact as well as the Milwaukee fuel. just got the 1/4 inch drive flex head ratchet. 72 tooth , quick release. about 5 inches long. really nice ratchet.

I bought almost all of them on the $15.00 off $50.00 sale that Amazon had before last Christmas...

Because of that, the 10 ratchets were less than $120.00...72 tooth Taiwan movement, quick release, and they work...

Terrific warranty and customer support, too...

Well worth the asking prices...

Love tekton they are awesome great warranty and product as well as great people as I wrote them and they sent me goodies. I have the USA screwdriver set and 18" 3/8 ratchet and a few other things. Miejers had a bogo sale on black Friday and the deal was a steal got very little in all my tekton and will be getting long cutting dikes and hand impact driver next. As someone else mentioned the screwdrivers are great but handles take getting used to but are USA made and black oxide shanked I love the long #0 Phillips with normal size handle which is great for electronics and best of all I got them free normally my set is $25+ or $5 each so set is a great deal I have the 10 or 8 piece set I forgot.

The 1/4" Tekton Roto head looks just like the HF Roto I never use... Also 72t made in Taiwan. Just saying...

My only Tekton tool so far is a 34mm deep impact socket that I bought for axle work. It has been impressive. It's chrome-moly and was made in Taiwan.

I don't have any experience with Tekton, but what I've seen is products that look identical to HF at 1.5-2X the price. (possibly from the same Asian factory).

I'm OK with the Tekton tools I own and what I've seen for sale. But always check COO. Taiwan stuff is pretty good. Steer clear of China. So far Tekton made in Taiwan has served me well. There is some overlap with HF product as others have stated. But Tekton also has some much nicer stuff HF doesn't carry.

Now I just need to buy a semi so I can use it.

i have pretty much all the different tekton ratchets, havent had an issue yet except that the selector switch is very easy to move which mean sometimes it can get moved when you are ratcheting. very smooth and comfortable ratchets

I've bought their metric wrenches for a bicycle clinic and have now used them plenty of times. Their finish and tolerance is better then HF and the selection is a lot better. I don't like them enough to buy them for myself but based on my experience with them will be buying more wrench sets to donate when more spare cash comes available and will probably buy starter sets of them when the kids are old enough to take and lose my good stuff. Based on the gearwrench I have I'd put it at that level and better then HF.

I have this breaker bar as well. It's worked well the 2 times I've used it, but the head came loose after these light uses. I haven't tried to mess with it yet to see if I can tighten it up. It was a great price though. I also recently picked up their USA-made hybrid air hose but haven't put it to work yet. I have one pair of slip-joint pliers made by Wilde in the US, and they are good quality as expected.

I like supporting their USA made tools, and it's nice that I can buy their tools at Meijer here in the mid-west. But as others have mentioned, their imported tools are not any better than HF while being more expensive and more difficult to warranty (although Tekton seems to have great customer service).

I don't get all the HF comparisons. Some stuff is basically the same but the stuff that matters like screwdrivers, sockets, pliers, wrenches, etc are all much higher quality. The sockets are available individually, and the sets don't skip sizes like HF.

Hey, that is a bummer. Is that road box getting buzzed around a bunch? I don't think those screws are in with Loc-Tite, but in your circumstances it looks like it would have been handy.

Honestly, for the price point if you get 10 years it was a good investment.

I've got their 3/8" impact sockets, I really like them and find myself using 3/8 a lot now w advent of potent and maneuverable impacts like my 2654 and 2754. Mostly I like the size markings, easy to read. I just wish the sets went bigger than 3/4 and 19mm. 22mm would make A TON of sense for GM trucks. Maybe Tekton offers more comprehensive sets than the ones I own?

Michigan Industrial Tools or MIT (ahh fondly known in the past as Made in Taiwan ) has been around quite awhile that I can remember with the Tekton branded tools being their latest product line. I made a buyers inquiry with a customer service rep not long ago they have a specific marketing plan for a dealer network.


I've sold a lot Tekton name brand tools over the last couple of years at my outdoor summer market. Different plier configurations like needle nose, straight, curved, slip joint, linesman, retaining ring, plus breaker bars, combo wrench sets, L shaped hex key sets / T handle sets, rivet gun, wire strippers, tubing cutters and more. I can easily say Tekton branded tools are of noticeably different quality than most HF stuff (have had a lot of that too).

Tekton is a stand up outfit.They back up the buyer immediately if dis-satisfied or problems. Research and purchase accordingly. Like all companies they have great.... and not so great. Yes. Even Lord Snap-On has garbage. Research and purchase accordingly.

If you're worried about the ratcheting parts, so far, so good...

If I really needed to lean on a reluctant fastener, I'd get a breaker bar, like the Tekton #15356, for $21.84 from Amazon...Or Harbor Freight has a good one for a couple of bucks less...

I have one and broke it. The square drive broke, the teeth and pawls were fine.

I had a 4ft pipe on it loosening the lug nuts on a tractor. I know, I know, wrong tool for the job and all, but you gotta use what you have when you're stranded with a flat tire miles from a shop.

I got a rebuild kit from Tekton and fixed it.

Most complete 3/8 drive sets are to 22mm (or 7/8ths).

Truck brands offer up to 1 inch at least 24mm, with some offering up to 26mm.

Part of the point being that not all fasteners are being used at the limit. Sometimes you have lower torque applications with large fastener sizes.

Some examples are alloy-body fluid resevoirs (diff/trans cases, brake master cylinders)

...that are often 21/22/23/24mm.

Well, some things may be similar between Tekton and HF, but many of the tools are very, very different, with the Tekton tools being superior. For example, Tekton sells some USA tools made by Wilde. They also have their new USA-made screwdrivers.

I just bought a Tekton torque wrench. I also have a HF torque wrench. They're both made in Taiwan and look sort of similar. However, now that I own them I can tell you they are not the same. The Tekton is better in a couple significant ways and is clearly not a simple rebrand of the same torque wrench.

I've been looking at buying a Tekton torque wrench and was afraid that it was an HF clone. I've had a Pittsburgh one in my hand before and don't care for it. Just wondering how the Tekton was better. Would you give them a favorable recommendation?

Thanks for the feedback. I have breaker bars in 1/2 , 3/4 and 1 inch drives. I use them accordingly . this looks like a decent ratchet. I go 270 myself and am capable of applying a serious amount of force.

All of the Tekton stuff I have I've got through Amazon. I initially thought I'd only bought some snap ring pliers, but after searching my order history turns out I'd bought a few others and looking through the list my experience with Tekton has been a little bit hit and miss but overall positive.

It was an Amazon addon item for $4 and it does exactly what it's supposed to.

TEKTON 1660 Combination Wobble Extension Bar Set, 9-Piece
These were $23. I've definitely put them hard to work. I liked them so much I later bought a second set for my other box.
- Definitely worth it

TEKTON 3576 Internal / External Snap Ring Pliers Set, 4-Piece
These were $17. They are tiny little things, much smaller than I was expecting. I haven't used them a lot but I haven't broken any of them. I've since bought larger Snap On and Channellock ones that feel much more comfortable to use.
- Meh, ok I guess, but you can do better

TEKTON 6580 Automatic Center Punch
$5. I've used it quite a bit. I like it.
- Worth it

TEKTON 6885 U Shank Jigsaw Blade Assortment, 5 Piece
$4 addon item, bought after having purchased a different brand set that was supposed to also be U shank but didn't fit my jigsaw. These did.
- Definitely worth it.

TEKTON 6555 Rivet Gun with 40-pc. Rivets
Cost $11. This was pretty much junk. It didn't work reliably from the start. Before I had completed my first project with it I bought a Marson HP2 instead. Difference was night and day.

Runnings is the only local place that carries Tekton for us. I got a 20" long screwdriver for only a couple bucks that got me out of a jam one day. I've been eyeing their mini bolt cutters for <$10 but they look a little flimsy, so I think I'll wait and get the Knipex.

Knurling is really nice on my extension set. Long picks are nice I think it was a 7 pc set. I think I have a few other misc things like an inspection mirror, magnet pickup tool, that sort of thing.

Haven't been brave enough to try sockets or wrenches. Or haven't had a need I couldn't fill with used stuff. Have had my eye on the screwdrivers but can't find a need for an eighth set.
