I was visiting my grandparents over the holidays and my grandfather asked if I could give him a hand converting his new to him snowthrower to single wheel drive so it would be easier for him to turn.

I noticed that the skids were a pretty worn, one being worn completely through. So I offered to make him a set of new ones out of 1/4" steel. So this afternoon I waterjet cut some pieces to make new ones and welded them up and painted them.

I love being able to go into the shop and having everything available to take on projects like this.

Yes, But when you can enter coordinates you can make much better stuff. And make it much faster.

Sadly it's not my personal shop :(

Lets see a picture of them installed when you get around to it.

I had to ship them across the state to my grandparents, so I'll see if they can email me a picture.

Let's see a pic of your waterjet, better yet, everything in your shop. I will get my bib so I can catch all the drool. :)

If I remember, I'll snap some pictures tomorrow morning while I'm there.

Wish I had a water jet. Or even access to one.

Maybe one day I can do the plasma table.

I plasma table is probably definitely the way to go for a home shop. The only reason a waterjet is more useful is because you can a) cut non-metal material and b) cut metal up to 6" thick.

So it's kind of pointless to shell out $130k for one that will only cut stuff up to 26"x26" when you can cut 4' x 8' sheets of metal on a plasma table for 1/10 the cost.

sending me material helps because they I know it's exactly what you want. The only problem is making sure it's a size that'll fit in my machine.
