just picked a few things up off the snap on truck

got my first F80. havent used it yet but in playing it feels really smooth

just needed a longer extension for a few things and the deal was the mid depth metric sockets. they are $186 regularly but they are a snap on sale or special for $100. I already have the SAE mid depth set and they are favorites of mine so I just couldnt pass that up on the metrics.

i picked up those mid-length sockets for a $100 a few weeks ago too. Haven't used them a whole lot yet but they are pretty sweet. My dealer was offering the sockets and some ratchet for 170 but I already had the ratchet. So he let me get the sockets by themselves for a hundred.

What's so special about the mid length? Why can't you use a shallow socket with an FX1?

The mid length are good when you need a deep enough socket to cover a stud but have an obstruction above it that prevents you from using a standard deep socket. So far I haven’t ever run into that situation.

Nice stuff.
Are mid-length measurements standardized between manufacturers?

ie are the Matco, MAC, snap on mid length all the same length?

I'd love to see a side by side comparison between a deep, a mid and a short with an FX1 extension.

nice stuff, 6 pt or 12 pt?

That set is 6 pt.

I'm going to be getting that set soon mostly because my shallow and deep sets are 12 pt. I've used a coworker's semi-deep sockets a few times and like them a lot. It'll probably be my go-to set and I'll just use the 12 pt deep and shallow sockets as required.

Or maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that I need more tools :)
