I need a gear reduction I think...??

Hey Y'all,
I am working on my two trap throwers. I want to make them move side to side and up and down. I purchased two windshield wiper motors. The problem with the motors are the rotate to fast. I tried to electronically slow them down but it seemed to stall the motors. So I'm here to ask of y'all if someone knows of a small gear reduction unit that I could mount to a windshield wiper motor unit. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Tony

A small gear box would probably do what you want. I doubt if you are talking much torque. Surplus center has a pretty good selection. Take your current RPM, put it over your target RPM and reduce the fraction to a X/1, the X will be your target gear box range.

So say you have a 500RPM motor and you want a 50RPM output, 500/50 --> 10/1 --> 10:1 gear box needed.

What is a blend door motor? We do have a surplus store in Lincoln. I hope that they have something small enough. Thanks, Tony

The motors that operate the blend doors for the HVAC systems on newer cars to adjust floor/defrost, hot/cold, etc.

Posibly door window moters out of a car, they should already have the gear reduction on them. If you use the wiper control circuit with them you can adjust the speed.

The W S motor should slow down with lower voltage.
But I go with the power windows motors.

What would work best is get a PWM motor controller. It will be wired in series with the motors and very little fabrication needed if any. Check the current rating of the motors and try to search for one that can handle the amperage. From experience this is the best way to control a motor.
