Well it's done, I bought this set:

I actually bought it a couple weeks ago only today got it squared away.
The short version is this: there were a couple wrenches in the set that were defective and I got them replaced, then I noticed that the set had gone on sale here in town for $99.?? So I got the difference refunded to me and all is well. I like the set and it is a perfect fit for what I needed, especially at that price. While there I bought some 1/4 socket rails and a set of SAE stubby wrenches both on clearance.
Now for your entertainment is the long version. The 1/4 combo wrench in the set was apparently stamped with the Kobalt logo and when that happened, it deformed the wrench so that it was noticeably crooked. When you put it flat on a table, you could rock it with your fingers. I debated on bending it back in the vise, but decided to return it. The 5/16 combo wrench had some defects in the chrome making nice little jagged spots on the otherwise smooth handle. I definitely wanted that one replaced. I took them both in and told the lady working the returns that I wanted these replaced. She told me I had to bring in the entire set, and exchange it. I said no way that is accurate, she should be able to replace them as defective. A short back and forth and I got the manager who repeated the "policy." One highlight of the conversation with the manager was when I asked if they no longer sell the set and I break a socket, am I just out of luck, lifetime warranty not withstanding? She basically ignored that logic and called up the tool aisle to see if they had the set on hand to take the wrenches out of (I am shrugging my shoulders at this nonsense, just glad I am going to get two new wrenches). She then tries to pave the way for letting me down easy and stated that she might not have what I needed. (Obviously ignorant of what they have in the store, she admitted she was in her first week on the job - imagine that.) So my knight in shining armor shows up from the tool aisle - Howard. A nice young man of about 70 yrs. Howard takes one look and says "You're right, they have a lifetime warranty, there's no reason why you can't get new ones." He takes me to the wrench bins, I pick out the ones I want and he leaves me with the manager lady. She then pulls some shenanigans at the return counter with selling me the two wrenches for zero dollars, then exchanging them as defective. I have no idea how they account for that.
Now after the semi-successful exchange, I head back to the tools to look over the clearance and notice that my set has been reduced to 99 from 129, but since I did not bring the receipt I decided to come back the next day and get them to make it right, which they did without so much as a blink.
On clearance, I bought three of these to organize some sockets my brother gave me.

I also picked up these stubby wrenches in SAE to compliment my stubby Craftsman metrics I have had for years. They were 9.97 in the store on clearance. The actual part number for the SAE was 338607, but it doesn't show up on the website.

My adventures in customer service continued at Walmart this afternoon, but that is another story.
