As the title states I'm looking for recommendations for a larger ball joint press. I already own the OTC super set, with some extra cups and parts.

I believe the BJ1P is larger and may work, but that's a lot of money. I also know it doesn't come with all the cups I'd need. I also don't think its compatible with the OTC style cups I already own.

Does anyone have the larger OTC press (6736)? I think it'd work, but I don't know anyone that has one.

I'm wanting this for Ford F450s, F550s, Ram 3500s, and 5500s mostly. Just stuff where the ball joints are so damn big. The normal OTC press works well for everything else I do.

I know someone on here works on these heavy trucks. What are you guys using? A shop press? BFH?

The BJP1 is a lot of money but the adapters snap together so you theoretically need one less arm. I have used the BJP1 with OTC Jeep adapters and those do work. I can't speak to adapters for the 3/4-1+ ton trucks.

I have the BJP1 with the truck adapters. It's really a great tool and while expensive its worth the money IMHO.

I've eyeballed that larger OTC 6736 C-Frame press for a bit last year but didn't bite because I got a reply email from tooltopia to an inquiry I made saying that it is made in China unlike the OTC 7249 that's made in USA once again, and there were lots of bad reviews on the OTC 7249 when it briefly was made in China.

Md21722 Thanks. Its good to know that at least some of the adapters I own will still work.

Super Mech Have you used your BJP1 on larger trucks? I know there are special adapters that are needed for the American 9.25 in the Dodge trucks and they make another kit for the big Fords. Biggest issue I had was when my dealer demoed it we couldn't press the lower out of an American 9.25 using a half inch gun or a 3/4 ratchet on it. He refused to let us hit it with a 1" impact during the demo so who knows what was going to break first.

WWheeler Thanks. I didn't know the COO.

I have not used the truck adapters yet. I have used the car adapters and the ones for 1ton ford vans a lot. No problems using a 1/2" gun on the press screw.
