I recently brought home another project: a Honda 160- powered pressure washer with a bad pump. This one is (was) rated 2700psi & 2.3gpm and has the pump hung under the vertical-shaft engine.
Looking at Amazon & eBay there are dozens of nearly identical pumps with claimed output of (pick any number), compatible mounting, all clustered around the $75-$100 price range.

How do I choose?

There is no quality pump for vertical shaft engines, they are all made for a price. Just make sure the shafts are compatible

Unless it's cracked, there is very little to go wrong with a pressure washer pump. Just go on YouTube. There are dozens of videos on repairing them. In my experience, it's just a stuck valve from sitting unused.

I had one go back due tohard water jamming the valve and causing the cast housing to crack in half!

I got a new pump from northern tool, $100 bucks and its been 5 years no issue

I got one of the ebay ones (LINK) for mine after I left the hose on over winter and the casting cracked. The bolt pattern and shaft are the same, no rubber isolators on the feet, sealed pump (didn't have to add oil). It's rated a little higher than the original one, don't go too much higher because your engine will lug and not be able to make pressure. The pump body was also a little shorter (didn't touch the frame), I emailed the seller and they said if it didn't work I could return it.

Fired it up and it's been great. I also took the opportunity to upgrade everything to quick disconnect, get a new wand with quick disconnect nozzles, and an inline swivel (the QD's don't rotate under pressure). I couldn't get the soap injection to work but that might be operator error.
