I need a switch

Why not a little toggle switch. If the hold is too big, pop rivet a small plate a little bigger than the opening with a proper sized hole.

Have you tried Radio Shack?

Really would like a switch that would drop in with a lock but from the back. Trying to keep it looking original.

The opening looks like for a old Despard switch. Not easy to find.

Above is the punch for that hole, I think, measure your hole and see if the dimensions are correct. If so then you will be looking for a switch with a D, DD, or doubleD nomenclature for the shaft. Just some information to help is specifying your switch mount.
