As of right now Im working with a 1976 Snap On "aviator" taco wagon. Im starting to outgrow it sadly but cant bring myself to get rid of it. So what I was hoping to do is find the perfect top box to stack on top thats bigger than what I have that would hold the larger, heavier sections of my tool setup (such as wrench, socket, and hammer drawer).

Ive searched the tool sites for something but everything it either close to the right width and unbelievably small, or the perfect setup but 10 inches too wide.

Im hoping for something with ball bearing sliders that has a couple fat drawers and a couple thin ones thats 50" wide, the depth isnt as important because with the cabinet on the back of my bottom box the depth is 26.5".

Any help is appreciated guys.

I would say a kr 655 ( i hope that is the right part number)11 drawer top box. They pretty common and you should be able to find one for less the $500, hopefully about $350.

Not sure what you want here...a box that equals the 50" taco wagon in width, but doesn't need to be the same depth? I wouldn't know what boxes are like that, but as bobcatdan said, a KR 655 would be a good top box for that one, or a KR537D (like in my signature)

:+1: With what Crew said above. I don't think I have ever seen a taco wagon with a full width top box. :headscrat Typically you see something like KRA59, KR537, KR637, KR550, KR650. The "recommended" box was a KR533/633 (27*18*18). Back when SO made the taco wagon the largest top box they made was the 550/650 (36*22*22).

In my mind the taco wagon was a real predecessor to the boxes we see today that are primarily bottom boxes with a work surface on top. Only thing earlier than that was the K-300.

Are you brand specific?
Budget?
What top box do you have on there now?
On the cheap, what about on the of the HF 44" top boxes? :dunno:

Another option could be a top chest for a 660, I think a 661. 50" wide, 21" deep and a full width drawer. Maybe hard to find, can't say I have seen many pop up by themselves.

the biggest top boxes available were "only" 36" wide. :shocking:

i know SO and MBC had them, but i dont recall if matco, mac or proto made top boxes 36" wide, or if they maxed out at 33" wide.

i used to drink a lot back then...:drunk:
