Wekk the time has come to up grade my current snappy box. It is just packed to the gills and is becoming a problem getting tools out of it because they are stacked 2 and 3 deep. My current box is a KRA5319, It can be found here

I am going to upgrade to the master series and i am having troubles picking between these 2 boxes. I cant decide if i want the one with 22 or 19 drawers. I feel that the 22 drawer model may be a little tall to work on as it sits at 45'' tall and the other at 40'', I am leaning to the KRL1023 as it has more space but i am afraid once i order it i will be stuck with a box that is too tall to comfortably work on top of on the other hand i want the biggest box i can get so i wont out grow it as quick as i did this one, Any opinions are welcomed, Also what color would you get?? neon green and orange are out of the question for me as i work in a corporate type setting and it may be considered too loud and i want to keep it as low key as possible as i already get my balls busted for having the biggest box in the shop. I want something that looks real classy. Our company logo is blue and i am leaning towards that so it will blend in to our shop.

My KRL1056 is the same size as the center section of a KRL1023 and it's at a nice hight for working off the top for me; but I'm 6'2".

Why not set up some kind of prop that is 45'' tall and see how it feels? This should definitely answer any concerns you have.

Hey ToolMan - I'm 5' 9" and had to make a similiar decision regarding the height of the box. I was choosing between the 40" and 45" height as well. Primary concerns for me were access to the back of the top drawer and working on the top of the box.

I looked at a couple of KRL1022s and KRL7022s. For me, the shorter box was much easier to reach into, especially towards the back of the top 4" drawer. I plan to use every square inch of the box and getting to the back of the top drawer was important. Also, the working height of the box (for working on the top) was much better for my 5' 9" height. Like you, I wanted the biggest box I could get but I chose the 40" height. On the taller box, I could naturally lean against it with my hand on my head and my elbow on the box....

Another suggestion I have is to measure the workbenches you like to work on. Measure their height and then compare that to the height of these boxes.

Good Luck - Nice position to be in choosing between those two boxes.

PS: I picked the cranberry color and in my opinion it screams classy! The color is deep, rich and very classy looking. I looked at extreme green, classic red, yellow, blue and cranberry. My top two preferences were blue and cranberry. I wanted something that was timeless in color, someone my son in 40 years would be proud to own.

Hope this helps.

ToolMan,
I have the krl1023 in Cranberry and I love it, but then again I'm 6' 1''. I bought mine from a co worker up in Levitown Pa. Check craiglist before buying new. I bought mine for 3 grand and it was only a year old. I think I saw some in our area for a little more. Point of reference I'm out of Cherry Hill NJ. I think there wa a few listings in and around Philly. Another co worker is looking to upgrade his box if you want i can get the model number for you and price. Its in good shape and I think its also 1 year old. It is the typical Snap On red though. Let me know I can post the details for you and gets some pics.

Well, the two choices your are considering are so similar.... I would go for the bigger of the two. If you're gonna spend $9xxx you might as well spent $10,*** and not wish taht you had spent the extra $1000 a year later....

Thanks for the pointers i will check out craigs list. The snap on guy is going to give me an awsome deal on the box i pick out. I am going to be right at $5,000 after trade in, And he is also going to give me $1200 in truck credit so i can go buck wild on the truck. I guess everybody was right when you offer snappy cash they really bend over backwards
