I need help to value box & cart

I went into my dime store pawn shop with my son today, we spied two items. A C'man 12 drawer chest and also a Blue Point 4-Drawer service cart with lid for top, shelf on (R) side and Pry Bar/Screwdrivers Lrg. Rack with lid lock on (L). Please let my son and I know if we need to get out of this deal of $500.00 for both.

Is the Cman ball bearing? It looks like it has the bar lock rather than a keyed lock, which usually indicates a cheaper series box.

Not sure on the cart, but I know similar carts (from other brands) around here on CL can be had for $200-$400.

I wouldn't say you stole them, but it isn't a terrible deal either.

That craftsman box is friction slide. I have one. It's decent.

The C'man has BB slides and the lid hinges over the drawers and locks with key. On the BP, I thought the side folding work space was optinal, also same with the locking box for drivers & pry bars? If so then this should raise value I hope. I will try to get Blue Point Service Cart number from other pics it that helps?

I have the same cart, SO lists it got $450. Got mine used from the Matco guy for $250 cause I needed a cart.

It's greatest asset is the rubber lid cover. I keep receipts and non daily use tools in the top compartment because I use the lid and side tray so much. I use it mostly for setting turbos on. You can spill oil in it and it doesn't run all over the toolbox. I just need more drawers. My boss has the same cart, but took a second BP cart and now has drawers top to bottom.

Just looking through classifieds I would have given $250 total at most. I know that on sale I can get the biggest HF tool cart for $149 out the door and IMO the CMAN is $100 at best. Craigslist has many deals as long as you are consistent and looking all the time. Especially early in the morning IMO.

Another way to look at it is if it's a good deal to you then it's a good deal. Key thing is if it makes you happy then it's a sweet deal. You only live once so if this is what you want then it's a great deal no matter what.

Once you have it home you'll be smiling and that's all that counts!

Looking at the picture again since my first post, that is a real nice top box, I'm think top of the line craftsman from it's day. Thats wider then normal, 33" or 36" isn't it? It won't bring no SO dollars, but I'm, sure a soild $200. I stand by the cart being nothing special.

I think you would be better off (for $500) buying a HF service cart when it goes on sale for $99 and then buying one of their bottom boxes.

I got my bluepoint cart that was the older version of that for $140 used.

Top box prolly didn't make up the difference.

Bluepoint is worth $100-200. Doesn't have same value as Snap-On brand stuff, as Bluepoint is their "economy" line of tools, made in Taiwan.

The Craftsman box is worth $50-75. I remember when the entire three piece 26" craftsman boxes were going for around $400 new. Top, middle, and bottom boxes.

If you got the cart and toolbox you wanted then what difference does it make what you paid for it? Don't let price dictate your happiness... you got a nice setup there that will last a lifetime or two.

That's a nice cart there. The SO version at $285 (China COO BTW) doesn't have the two drawer box, the side shelf or the locking prybar end cab. The Craftsman Box appears to be one of the larger Industrial versions. Pricing on this stuff is region dependent so this forum probably isn't the best place to ask "How'd I do on this deal". You said yourself you'd need to cross state lines to find a better deal. A little bit of buyers remorse can creep into the very best deal. As long as your happy you did fine.

The box seems well built and a lot heavier then what our Sears has on the floor. I have 60 days to pay for it so need to sell some NIB Puma impact sockets..
