I have made them with tongue and groove boards with three battens across the front and back, top middle and bottom. this makes them thick enough to fit the roller brackets.

You also put on side pieces front and back, making them long on one side, and short to fit between the top and bottom battens on the opposite side.

Lots of ways to skin this cat. I even stop and look at barns I like.

Go to your local building supply / lumber company (not HD or Lowes) and they will set you up with steel channels and hardware to make one pretty easily. similar to what is on a pole building or steel shop. They go together with self tappers pretty easy.
