These are great. A bit pricey, but they fold down to almost nothing when not in use, and are quick to set up.

Here are some pics of some I made when I built my 24 x32 last fall. I made them so I could store them after the garage was done. Saw horses always come in handy. These were made from scrap and studs that were too crooked for other projects. So almost free!

I'm a carpenter and I've pretty much used all of the above sawhorses. IME the StableMate folding horses have worked the best. They fold up for storage and are made out of heavy steel and not stamped out of thin metal. They come in two heights so get the 36" ones if you are taller. Made in USA.

Hand me down sets from a neighbor and previous owner of the cottage. Used for canoe and kayak storage, never seen the inside of a building. 2x4 construction - probably could use a screw or two and a lick of paint. I'll add that to my rainy day in the garage list!

I bought the plans - $5.00 with PayPal. Reasonable, but you can probably figure the cuts and dimensions from the posts here.

His dimension for the lower cross braces is 5 5/8" longer than the upper brace.

One thing that will make it an easier build would be to make the upper and lower cross braces the same length; then there's no need to bevel the cuts for the feet, cut-outs, and top of the legs.

Did I say I like that they fold?

I have a set of these. They are very sturdy and don't take up much room. They regularly go on sale for $10 a piece. Just add a 2X4 to the top of them. Used a scaffolding board on top of them when building my dad's house. Held up his 230# wt. and my 175# wt. without any problems. I think they are rated for 1000 lbs.
They are made by Ebco.

I liked the look of these so much, I ordered the plan and made them! Great project and sawhorses!

I ordered the plan too and thought they'd be easy. Well, I clearly am no carpenter because after several hours I managed to make one crappy horse.

I am not going to attempt horse #2. It's a great design, just made for someone that is comfortable making compound miter cuts and doesn't play fast and loose with the instructions like I did. I blame my ancient crappy saw, but in truth it is probably just me.

If anyone else wants to try it, I'll resell the pdf plan for $3.

Going to home depot to cash in some gift cards for a pre-made pair of horses.
