I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to lay out my workbench area, including what color combo's work and what don't. I intend for this garage to be an area I can work in, but I plan on keeping it showroom clean. No kids or wife without supervision LOL. I'm thinking I'm going to skip white paint, and use something with a silver tint to it for the walls (at least upper walls). Don't know on the bottom yet, but I've considered black. The floor will be U-Coat-it light/medium grey with pacific blue flakes.
I slapped this image together of how the garage is supposed to be laid out. But the program I used didn't have a template for a 2 post lift (I can't imagine why). But the lift will line up with the right bay, and be 16' from the back wall.
Now I have 2 16' sections of workbench I built for my other garage that I could use out there. They're both 42 1/2" tall, one is 28" deep, and the other is 20" deep. Here's a few pics.
Now I'm tearing down this garage in 2 years anyway to move it, so whatever I salvage doesn't go in the roll-off box. I'm thinking I might overlay the tops with diamond plate aluminum, and trim the bottoms in for cabinet doors. I could use Gladiator or Craftsman wall cabinets on each side, but I'd like to leave an area of the wall open for posters/signs on the back wall.
I'd like to pick up one decent sized tool chest for basic air tools and other miscellaneous power tools (rotozip, drills, jigsaws...). I currently have space set aside for my reloading equipment, but haven't used it in a while. I could probably free up that space for something else. Any big boxes or items will get stored in the corner storage room, which I'll build shelving for. (BTW, the second water heater is actually where the air compressor will go). I'm also burying 2 4" vertical posts to install right in front of the storage room, so nobody drives through the wall into the natural gas line.
Well, these are all my ideas. Where could I improve? What haven't I thought of yet? What colors would work? I'm open to using OSHA yellow or purple accenting, as those colors are also on my cars.
