One of the things I enjoy about this site is there are folks here with some serious technical and practical knowledge on a broad spectrum of subjects I do not possess. Case in point is the Craftsman tool box pictured below. Can someone tell me what on Earth the cylindrical shaped hole is for?
I do not believe it is associated with the lock above it because that controls the locking mechanism for the drawers. I am absolutely baffled.

looks like it may have been a security lock to keep that drawer locked while the rest was open...

Separate lock for that drawer to put your wallet in during the day.

Hit it right on the nose they use to have that in there ad as a selling feature for there box dont think it is in there ad anymore tho there just hopin they can sell a box anymore there quality has dropped so much.:thumbup:

lock go in here to lock the small draw my box, is 15 years old same box used the draw to lock my wallet and one of two set of keys when i am at work .new boxes don't have this draw.box is still in great shape and always full of heavy tools.
