I need to build an axle/dolly/roller

So, when I get the front suspension out of a car, I still need to move it around the gravel driveway.

I'm picturing a trailer axle with spindles at the ends.

Maybe a drop axle?

or a tow dolly with the hitch part cut off?

needs to have good size wheels 13" or better, cause the driveway is 'primitive'


any other , better ideas?

perhaps a trip to a junkyard. the front susp from a vehicle w/ a solid front axle and some boxtube could probably render u something useable.i dont understand y u would pull the front susp and need to move the vehicle around? you cant pull the susp, rework it, and re-install it in a short period of time? then u wouldnt need to move the vehicle. i'm just a little confused. dont understand y u would spend the time fabbing up a front susp substitute instead of using that time to fix the car and be done... not to be an *******, just curious...

Junkyards seem to be full of front wheel drive jap-****, how about using the rear axle and wheels from one of them as a starting point? If you want to be able to steer the front axle from an old truck might be a better choice. Either way buying the whole assembly will save you a lot of time chasing parts.

In the world of car restoration it is beneficial to be able to media blast,weld/fab,paint without having to worry about causing damage to finished suspension pieces.

Mine was on a similar setup for 3 years.

I have a piece of channel that bolts to original k-member bolt holes on a single 12" pneumatic swivel tire, simple but worked great.
