I need to make a tool for the g/f (a keeper) that needs to twist yarn for her weaving projects. The tool would be able to twist multiple strands of yarn. The wood is simple, the roach . . . er alligator clips are easy to get, it is the Z(ish) shaped metal piece I need. But I haven’t been able to figure out something that exists in that shape. I don’t want to bend a piece of straight rod as it would weaken the rod and possibly break while in use. She found a site that mentioned using “electrical staples”, but I haven’t found staples in anything near that shape.

So does that look like anything y’all have seen? Any ideas, thoughts etc. would be appreciated.

Thank you

If metal clothes hanger won't work you could also try a piece of linkage rod from a hobby shop. They use it for things like throttle linkages on hobby airplanes. The rod is strong and it's designed to be cut and have z-bends put into it to make the linkage ends, so it can handle tight bending without weakening or cracking...

Just don't use the music wire that's often sitting right next to it. That's strong, but brittle.

or use an ol fashioned metal coat hanger.

you could probably even make the z-bend pieces out of 12 or 10 gauge solid copper electrical wire from the hardware store and be fine.

If you use a coat hanger, you might need to sand the area to be soldered. It may have a coating on it that might not bond well.
You might even try some push nuts on the rods next to the blocks to keep the thing tight.

On hangars, all of ours are plastic so I completely forgot about those. I may have 1 or 2 stashed around here. I could either solder or epoxy the clips on after proper prep. If not I may have some copper electrical wire around too.

Google yarn twisting machines and you will find a lot of these.https://www.yarn.com/products/lecle...2gxUoluw5AxTl7sbJ1M97lOc0jC7oKlPYbRoCna7w_wcB
Very similar to your example.

On premade twisters, since she does a lot of things for me I like to make things for her. There are plenty of materials in the shop for me to do them with too. Also, she wants one that could do up to possibly 10.

Hit up your local welding shop for a piece of tig welding rod. Plenty strong.

TIG rod and pegboard pegs, I like these in case I don’t have hanger.copperwire.
.
Thanks for the input guys.
