Currently in the process of designing a new one for my new garage. It will be storing 14 tires!

just an idea, if you could find some used pallet racking, it's made in several depths, store tires up high out of the way and use the rest for HD shelving and storage.

it's what we use at our shop to store tires

Wall and floor space are at a premium in my small shop, but I had a small piece of unused space here just above my garage door.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1380488148.081955.jpg

I went the pallet racking direction and welded a bar down the middle to keep the wheels from falling threw the middle and that way keeping the racking nice and wide for my engine rack as well.

I didn't have enough continuous wall space anywhere in my old garage to do a rack, so I welded some 1" pipe to some plate on a very slight angle (just to keep them from sliding off if bumped). Lag bolted them to the wall and good to go... They were cheap and easy and don't stick out as far as a regular rack.
