After returning my HF compressor that I had tried to repair to only find it leaking from a weld I decided to get what I wanted . I called my local Northern and asked what if they had a Quincy QT 5 in stock . The salesman said no , just a Qt 7.5 ... but I will make you a deal on it if you come in .

He set the hook deep and I couldn't get to Northern quick enough . They had three of them and true to his word he made me very happy by selling the
QT 7.5 to me for $100 more than what the QT5 would have cost me if they had one . It was a beast to get in the garage , but my neighbor came to the rescue with his tractor and boom pole .

Anyways heres the beast in the garage . I will get it wired up Saturday with the help of a friend . I am a little unsure of the magnetic starter wiring so I am calling in a pro .

Nice compressor. Great deal. I see they want $1399 for the 5hp with free shipping. Is it less if you go into the store? It's got to cost them a bunch to ship it. I'm curious. Thanks

Wow, that looks like the real deal; its awesome using air tools when you have a pro grade air supply to back it up! Once you have a great air system; you will be spoiled and wonder how you ever lived with out it! I should consider a high quality filter and automatic moisture removal system.... this save you tank and prolong the life of your air tools.... plus help eliminate contamination with using a paint gun.

The sales rep did say he could knock $100 off the 5hp 60 gallon . I seriously looked at it , but my wife said I was crazy not to take the better deal .

Nice.
I like that starter. What size wire - 6AWG?
Which motor mfg?

6 or 8 is ok for the load according to the manual . I will end up with whatever my electrician says to use ! It has a Baldor 7hp motor .

You **** ... what a great deal. Lucky you have a good neighbor to help you unload. :)

I think his tractor spends more time in my yard than his . But it goes both ways , when he needs something welded or fixed the garage door is always open .

Yeah, it looks like you saved about a grand from Northern website... YOU ****. (enjoy the compressor)
Thats why I mentioned the price , in case anyone else on here is looking for a good deal on a nice compressor . They are only doing it this month and you have to ask . If anyone is interested pm me and I will give you the details .

Yes, nice unit, being slightly bigger than you probably need is a good thing, never wear it out with shorter cycle times. It would keep up with a little sandblasting even, run body tools full blast.

Its up and running ! It was a lot easier to wire than I thought , though we did have to put a larger breaker in . It is SUPER quiet and makes a lot of air fast . I hope to be bending tube on Monday , so that will be its first real use .

There will always be another deal....I see you are in NC. I lived in Roanoke, VA for 9 years. There was a Northern Tool in town. I dont remember them ever having Quincy....

There are two Northerns that are about 30 miles apart here . One has Quincy and the other only has the NorthStar and IR . Not sure how they decide which stores get them , but I am glad I was able to get one . Roanoke is about an hour and a half from us up 220 .
