That on christmas morning, alot of tool lovers are going to wake up too-
Craftsman dog bone wrenches
Craftsman spline wrenches
and many other chinese made craftsman branded tools hideing under the tree.

I was at sears last saturday, and the big contrainer of dogbone wrenches was empty, and people(manily women) were buying them and the spline wrenches left and right. Also saw alot of People(mainly women,I see a pattern here:headscrat) buying Evolv tools.
I was look at the evolv tools they are selling, was wondering if they were any good, because of all the people buying them. What pieces of ****! I was messing with one of those extendable ratchets they make. and every one i messed with skiped instead of ratcheting, and a few never went back, they would just spin, in bolth directions, after you fliped the lever, they would just click a few times, then keep spining.

Also, the black screwdriver tips were just paint??? Why even bother,does that make people think they are "fancy"?

Just felt like ranting about it, craftmans are the only USA made tools i can afford, and i hope they never get replaced by these cheap evolv tools.:(

i heard that ryan was in talks with sears about the secret santa thing here and is considering the next year to make the dogbone required giving for all newbies..........

When I worked @ Sears; the main thing that the women bought for their husbands, boyfriends, brothers etc. was the black and decker auto tape and auto adjustable wrench... many other "gimmicky" type of tools sold really well during the holiday season! Typically, they were "jack of all trades, master of none" type of tools! I'm sure the recipients of these tools just loved all this junk that probably just filled up space in the garage and not go used! We did all do allot of the giftcards; many found that it was better to just give the men in their lives... gift cards, so they could figure out what they really needed and wanted! :)

I saw alot of those too. My grandpa has one of those "autoclamps", it worked for what we were doing, Building shelves and workbenches out of 2x4's, we would use the clamp thing to pull boards that were a bit warped, straight againts the frame and then nail it, but a normal c-clamp would have done the job just as well. he said it was the first time he found a use for it!

I think he saw it on TV and I overheard him talking about it with one of his friends but Im not sure what it is."
or some other lame BS like that.......
and for some reason they always have there tag along friend with them that is even more clueless than they are but still has to put their 2 cents in anyways....... then you just got to back away.

I told my family to NEVER buy me tools, one year I got PT stubby tools, and Craftsman extreme wrenches, I have never used them.:headscrat

My wife knows that I'm very particular about my tools and therefore does not even try to guess what I'd want. So Christmas, etc is a chance for her to buy me stuff that I never buy for myself, like clothes. Unless I tell her exactly what tool I would like.

I noticed the same thing about dogbone wrenches, etc going fast at Sears.

Yep, I made the same prediction when our local Sears sold of of the "hot" tools for this Christmas. Gift cards, you need to tell the unknowing that you want gift cards.:bounce:

I live 8 from my parents and when I go home around the holidays, my old man takes me directly to Sears to buy me tools for Christmas. Its been kind of a tradition since he bought me my first tool set @ 16. Im 28 now. I usually get all the things I NEED, but dont want to spend my own money on! Among other things, I scored a torx set and the plastic stand up socket organizers this year. SCORE!!!

Ihad to make it perfectly clear that just becuase I picked up the dog bone wrench to see what the hell it was did NOT mean I liked and wanted one. I have that same auto tape, snake light, digital tire pressure gauge, 18v caulk gun, and the list goes on.

For Christmas I'm got a USA made by Union wokers Carhartt jacket and am getting a Swiss made Bosch Jigsaw Wiha screwdrivers, swiss army knife and some other stuff. How did I get these well I went christmas shopping with my family if you ask each other what do you want you get less disappointment.

I want to start off by saying that I am disappointed in the general direction Sears has been going with new product releases. But...

Has it occurred to anyone that not everyone cares about country of origin like those of us on this board? Think about it, most people a scared to change their oil now-days much less have the need for a comparatively expensive USA made tool set?

Sears sells to a specific market of DIYers who are more concerned with getting the most bang for their buck. Does anyone have anything against the spline wrenches other than being from China? Personally I think they are a good idea. I wouldn't go buy a set for myself, but I would consider purchasing them for a not-so-serious tool buyer.

It guess my point is this, Sears is doing what have to with Craftsman in order to keep the brand from disappearing completely. They (Craftsman) still has a very good line of professional wrenches and their sockets are nothing to complain about. Even the raised panel ratchets are not as bad as so many on this board make them out to be. But hell, the things are only about $12.

Sorry to rant, but I get so sick and tired of every thread turning into Craftsman ***** when the truth is, the tools are perfectly adequate...especially for the price.
