I receive subscribed thread notification emails for 2 days, then nothing

I receive email notifications about subscribed threads for about 2 days....if I am not active on the forum for roughly 48 hours I stop receiving email notifications entirely, while the subscribed thread continues to live on, getting posts. I never know when there is thread activity unless I manually search.

If I go onto the forum and make a post, I start receiving the subscribed thread email notifications again.

This has been going on since there were problems with the notifications last time, about 2 months ago(?). I've checked the settings for thread subscription and notification, and nothing seems out of place?

Just wanted to add this update.

I hadn't received any email notifications from GJ since 2/11.

Within 2 minutes of logging into the site today, I received an email update on a thread from 8:44 AM, and another at 8:50 AM.

There was a post at 8:37 AM this morning in the same thread (before I logged on) that did not trigger an update.

I would like to always receive the subscription emails, not just when I am active on the site.

A hicup in the system. I have had the same issues and more than often I cancel subscriptions and find that fixes the issue or some times the forum is getting an update and then subscriptions return.

So, the solution is to unsubscribe from all the threads and resubscribe?

This is affecting all threads I am subscribed to, even new threads, which subscribe automatically.

You can only try. Have you changed anything that may affect subscriptions ?

No, I haven't changed anything. This started occurring about 2 weeks ago when there were problems on the forum and other people were complaining of not getting the emails at all. I would have started a thread then, but it was acknowledged by an admin that he was working on it.

Things haven't been right since then.

Most subscriptions for me appear to be working again so we need to try and work out why it is different for you.

I usually just subscribe with no email notification. When I login I go to my UserCP and it shows all the subscribed threads with new posts...

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it only sends you an email notification once per thread as long as you haven't visited the forum. Then when you visit it resets and when a new post it made it will send one again.

HotFR8 - Still occurring for me. I get sporadic email notifications, but after logging in today for the first time in a week, I had 3 notifications within 4 minutes of threads that have been otherwise silent for me. Unsubscribing had no effect at all; I believe my reply caused a re-subscription in the same thread.

I checked with an admin on another forum and he assures me this is not normal behavior. I do not have this problem on that forum.

OK, I have run out of ideas to help you. I am not having any subscription issues at present. Do you have any other information you can offer for me to help you ?
