I started my garage makeover today!

Check out the ceiling panels at this place. (The ASYLUM - Happy 40th Birthday to Me!). I'm no pro at links. It's in the Garage Gallery. You'd be much better off with this ceiling than a drop ceiling IMO. Nice Camaro, no offense to anyone but I was starting to see BMW's in my sleep.

Doing a great makeover on the garage Steve. I do however like the makeover on your 68 also. Lovin the stance!! I will be restoring my 67 once my shop is complete. Sorry I dont know the history on your car but was does bd penny mean..?? Would love to see more pics of your build.

The new storage cabinets were installed. Four banks of 48x84x24 units. Mounted to the wall so I can hose out or sweep the garage easily. Not cheap but well made. Interior shelves are steel reinforced.

I started painting the walls in a white "swiss coffee" like our house is.. feels more "tan" in the garage. Maybe because it's next to white primer. I'm trying to decided if I need a color change.

When I bought the car it was it's current copper color and my wife comented that it looked like a penny. When I was rebuilding the car the race car guy would glue pennies over any holes he needed to seal up. I left two of them in place for luck.

And lastly the car keeps coming back "like a bad penny". It was a retired race car, then it was a pro-street car, then a pro-touring car, then almost wrecked and now back again.

Besides the recomendations and comments that you've gotten, I'm willing to help. You should really keep that 68 somewhere safe during the construction, and I happen to have extra space in my barn, so if you hand over the keys...

One of our dogs got real sick and the money for the ceiling was spent on her. But that's how it goes, family first

Decided I like the exposed rafters so I cleaned it all out of junk and I will insulate and add banners for decor.

Update time.

The garage is now void of all things non-car related (except what my wife could fit in her section of cabinets). It's painted for now but I want to eventually paint the lower section grey with a red or checker stripe. I also need to do the floor and add more lights.

But, for now, it's sure is nice. I did a little decorating with stuff I had saved up and I'm going to frame some pictures of the cars I've built and hang them under the big Wilwood banner.

I bought the cabinet at Sears and even at $300 it was well worth it since it hold a TON of stuff inside (the doors have storage too). The new 8-foot bench came from Costco and at $199 its just as nice as the $400 Gladiator version. In fact, I think it came from the same factory. The two new red Craftsman cabinets are the el-cheapo versions but they are only holding odds and ends (tape, testers, etc) and not tools so they should be fine.

Hey whats happening Mr. Rupp,
Glad to see Penny coming back to life after all the work you have done to her. Really sucked as to what happened. Ive followed the story from when you bought her till now. Pro-Tour.com and Lat-G .
Any who the garage is looking good. Try painting the rafters with a rich cedar stain. Looks very cool but wont help you with the heat in Cali. I do like the drop ceiling as you could add can lights where every whated. And highlight the banners and bench.
Try U-Coat it for the floor.You may get a break as the mag probably has them as an advertiser. Make sure that you mechanically etch the floor before epoxy. Dont use acid as it just is not abrasive enough for epoxy to hold. When you rollin with hot tires you dont want to roll back out with epoxy stuck to them.
Also be sure to do what ever you can to keep Penny in good shape and the garage humidity and heat under control. These things will tear up a car in no time.
