I switched to bb mode so I manually input formatting codes - how do I switch back?

I switched to bb mode so I manually input formatting codes - how do I switch back? Currently the formatting icons are "grayed out".

there was just a thread on this topic, I searched but cannot find it. there was something with three dots ... that was the answer
