....Well according to some people. I don't see anything wrong. I swear it was not intentional to end up with the entire sets, it just happened. I know, I know, I'm missing the baby Cobra but not sure I will get it. ;)

(The Cobra on the right is my very first Knipex I ever bought. Got it from Matco early 00'. It's got less notches/positions than the current Cobras.)

So what’s the problem? I don’t see any problems. Your thread is very misleading.

The problem is buried in the post

It is misleading, but the first step is admitting you have a problem. The next step is getting more drawer space, or so I am told.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. I knew everything was fine & I could count on you guys here. ;)

I always say, if you know you have a problem, then there's no problem at all! :)

But yeah, drawer space is a problem for me.

You’re missing the Knipex hose clamp pliers. I wouldn’t be able to get any sleep if that one was not amongst the set.

I'm good on those. I do have one of those common hose clamp pliers but I never use them.

I've always used these Snap-On pliers (top 2) for hose clamps. Plus I don't work on cars for a living anymore, just my own stuff. These look brand spanking new cause they are. I finally found new replacements for all my old ones. Took me a while since they don't make any of these anymore. I preferred the satin finish on my old ones though. These have a bead blast finish

What is the common bond between (tool) collectors and wanting to have a "complete" collection? Even though they may never use the smallest, or the largest tool...if those aren't in the collection it is not complete.

Those tops ones do look perfect for hose clamps. Part #?

They're p/n 490BCP. My old ones bought early 00 were 490ACP. Only difference was the finish.

They're disconituned though but I'm sure SO has something similar now.

You are missing the smallest Cobras. How can you deal with that?

Honestly I think think the ones with the problem are the ones who want the 10” 12” 14”
If I d myself using the largest and smallest a lot but I doubt I would notice much if any difference between 10-14”

If the baby Cobra had grips like the rest of them I'd probably buy it! :bounce:

Nah but seriously, even if it did have grips I have no desire to buy one. 100mm/4" seems like it would be too small to be useful. I have 2 of the 125mm/5" & they are small enough. I don't even keep the 125mm ones in my tool box, one is in my backpack & the other one is in my room.

The big Cobra I will probably never have a use for although I did use it to get a stubborn oil filter off once. I wanted/needed one size bigger than I had. There were only 2 sizes bigger, the XL & XXL. So I figured I'd just but the XXL. Well the damn thing was too big! Stupid me for not realizing it's size.

I got it on sale from Zoro so it was not worth paying shipping to return it. Eventually I found a good deal on the XL & it's still bigger than I would have liked. Oh well, I'll keep the XL & will try to sell the XXL locally. Not worth the shipping cost if I sell online.

I just hope they don't make a smaller pair because I'll buy the damn things.

Way I see it is that using 1 or 2 of those beautiful tools on just 1 or 2 projects will save enough money to pay for the whole lot or a large chunk of it. Then it's all just pure gravy after that.

What about some non chrome pliers wrenches to compliment your chromed ones?

The non chromed ones seem like they are a little beefier with less handle flex. Now that I am posting this picture there definitely seems to be more material on the right handle that has the adjustment push button.

Good comparison here. Do the more splayed handles on the black version make any noticeable difference in use?

Thanks for sharing. Those smart Knipex engineers made the tried and true pliers wrench lighter, cheaper (exchange rate dependent), and stronger (subjective) IMHO. Usually you don't get all 3 at once

Also forgot they seem to be more versatile with a wider jaw range.

The wider splayed handle definitely allows slightly more leverage and clamping force on the fastener for a given adjustment/range. That being said with both gen 1 and 2 they could always be adjusted relative to the fastener such that the grip range could be dialed in for the user's preference, meaning the jaw range could be narrowed slightly if more gripping power/wider splay of the handles were needed or desired so maybe this doesn't matter all that much.

My feeling the gen 2's handles flex a little less may be due to the fact my gen 1s have gone through some heavy use too, although on visual inspection it does look like the engineers added and removed materials where it counts.

Only problem I see in this thread is that most of the tools look like they've never been used!?!

Won't even post a picture of mine, someone might accuse me of abuse;)

Seriously though ... love my k-nipex, but I use the **** out of them and it shows.
