But I'll show you guys this anyway. My wife and I put in this counter top yesterday. I am by no means a builder or remodeler. But I managed to use just about every tool that I own. if you saw our house, you'd know why. It's an old house (hey... the first house you buy is the only one you think you can afford, right????) and NOTHING is square, plumb or consistent. So this task took some... uh... creative engineering. Finally got it all done and have a mystery leak at my garbage disposal. The pipes are not lined up... offset by about 1/2" max. Like I said, NOTHING in this stupid house lines up! Anyhoo, here is a pic of the new countertop. Nothing stellar, but I have aches and pains this AM nonetheless:

Great job! Looks good. Feels good when a project turns out well.

Don't kid yourself....even in new construction, rarely is there ever a straight, square, plumb, level surface/wall/anything. That is...unless you do it yourself or pay out the nose for high quality workmanship!

If you think your old house is freaky, try living in a "manufactured home". Only 12 years old and falling apart at the seams. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is "normal".

7/16" sheetrock, 2x3 interior framing, 1x3 sole plates (!), odd-sized windows, POS door hinges, just a few of the surprises I have found. Oh, and the exterior siding made from sawdust and recycled newspaper is a real joy.

Somehow, I find "house" prjects more frustrating than "car" projects.... or maybe I am just more interested in the mechanical side of things.

I wish I had "before" pics for you guys. The counter top that was in the house when we bought it was this god-awful blue color.
