Run the output wiring in two individual plastic conduits at least 30 cm apart.
Only use cable with no metal shield.
At starting point at the pv panels install a plastic box with a short circuit protection fuse in each individual leg.
IF you have access to the midpoint of the pv setup connect a relay that monitors midpoint to minus and midpoint to plus that shuts down the installation at unbalance.
You can also ground the midpoint thru a current limiting resistor giving 15 mA at a full pole to ground fault, and then monitor + and - poles to earth, voltages need to be equal.
This is common practice at large power plant battery installations at 110 and 220 VDC. Always floating with 15 mA ground fault current

often green and green with yellow band is used to distinguish between AC and DC "grounds". I see that in well wired boats and their use of PV panels, and such.

I think it's confusing because we normally think of DC - as "ground". In automotive, the DC - and ground have continuity and no (or near zero) resistance between them.

When you start working on solar DC, you have DC+, DC-, and ground.. Think of that "ground" as a 3rd connection that is it's own thing, unlike the automotive application.

I ground (for roof mount) all the way back to the panel service panel ground.
