Be more specific as to what you're trying to do. If it involves a lot of size or weight, I would get some ratchet straps bc rope is too dynamic to ever be tight enough to keep something in place for long. A lot of people underestimate the power of air moving across the back of a vehicle at speed and its ability to toss things from said vehicle at speed. Ratchet straps keep things where you want them to stay. But, again, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish.

There are many types of ropes.
Got to West Marine Supply on line and see what they have listed.
The lines used on boats and sail boats take quite a lot of abuse. They hold up for ever in the sun. I have picked up huge rolls of the yellow nylon line at the swap meets but I have not seen any in a few years now. The nylon ties and comes loose with ease if you know your knots. I take a lighter and melt the ends to keep them form unraveling.

Some of thier lines are for rasing sails, some for boat docking but they carry a nice line of nylon and they have all the sizes.

I prefer double braided nylon, doesn't rot, you can cut it and melt the end so it won't fray, works easy, very strong.
+1 !

That's the best. Places like HD don't sell double braided nylon. The inside is a cheaper, less strong synthetic.

3/16" - 1/4" is a good size and if you get the good stuff, it as a surprisingly high breaking strength.

You can get some good deals on eBay.
