'''''' UPDATE """""

I recently transferred to appliances.
I now make more than triple what I made in tools
If anyone needs any appliances let me know before you order online.

Also hows everyone been and anything new happened or any horror stories?

I took in a 1/2" drive RP ratchet that belongs to my Dad for a replacement after he broke off the level. I was handed a box of rebuilds and was told to pick one out. Trouble is, they put the barcode stickers over the part of the handle where the COO stamping is. This was done on all of them. I got bitched out for peeling back the stickers while looking for a US made one. is this done on purpose or just my dumb luck?

It is a satisfaction warranty. I'd tell them that you aren't satisfied unless you get a US made replacement. If they don't like that explanation, then they can give you your money back.

A successful salesman told me once that "all sales jobs are temporary."

Not long after that he was let go while in the middle of building a house, or maybe it was just as he was moving in. I think he had to leave the area to get a comparable job.

I've gotten no hassle ratchets switched out when I broke em. But I don't use craftsman anymore, my matco 88 set is super nice, and plus at my dealership we have a matco truck roll in.

But it's a shame more and more product are being made in China. I really like the professional series screwdrivers and glad they still are USA made

Are they still made though?

Always seem out of stock on the website, is Sears giving up on Craftsman Professional line?

I doubt it's done on purpose. However, you can tell the two apart by the quick release feature. No need to look for the stamp...

Tater, I owe you an apology. I thought you were full of it when you talked about what you had for rebuilt ratchets in the store as every and I mean EVERY store from the ones I've been in in CT, NY and Utah - they never had anything like that. In fact, I've always either gotten a replacement (not a rebuild) or a rebuild kit.

So, I am sorry I didn't take your word when you originally posted. The store you work at has to be one of the good ones.

last couple times I have gone into Sears to buy a single socket they either didn't stock the socket at all (24MM 6 point deep) or were sold out of it (3/4 6 point deep)

only makes Sears more obsolete as a brick and mortar store. I can get the same sockets on Ebay in 30 seconds. I travel for work and pass a lot of malls so I try to shop on the road so I don't have to do it at home. I can't count on Sears to ever have even the most basic tools in stock and need to condition myself to stop going in there.

It might depend on the individual store but in my experience my local Sears stores didn't carry a lot of open stock 6 point sockets (except for 1/4" drive sockets). It was mostly, if not all, 12 point sockets. There are two Sears within 5 miles of where I live. One time a friend needed a 1/2" drive 19mm 6 pt. socket and the sales associate broke open a large wall display set to get him one. If you wanted a 6 pt. socket, it appears you were expected to order them from their tool catalog.

Although I've been there recently, I didn't notice what kind of open stock they keep on hand these days. I did see some 6 point flat wrenches though.
