IBC Tote Container use

So recently picked up an IBC container and am modifying the cage into a not so OSHA approved man lift for my tractor. I have had lots of feedback ranging from super sketch to neat idea so lets not go there...common sense will play a big factor in its limited use.

My question is what can I do with the plastic container that came out of it. Its clean (maybe even new). I feel like there has to be a ton of great uses for this but haven't landed on any that strike me as something I would want to do. Any suggestions for what to make out of it?

I have one at each end of my barn to throw net wrap and twine into basically using them like giant trash cans. Pick them up with pallet forks and dump into dumpster. Stab them somewhere and pick them back out.

They’re really flimsy if you’re wanting to put anything flowable in them. I have the bottom 18” of a few set on pallets used for raised planters I built a 2x4 ring around them about a foot up to hold them together. It works quite well.

Others could use it to preserve your corpse when the real thin and compromised IBC cage rails fail with minimal pressure and you plumet to your death?

I am not sure common sense is involved in any way.

That's only going work if it remains full, otherwise, the earth will collapse the sides in.
Depending on soil conditions. With the clay we have here, I feel like I could have saved a lot of money on my pool by stopping after excavation.

What? You don't keep 2 inch buttress thread adaptors laying around? (At least, I think that's what they were. Been 15 or 20 years).

I thought those were 2"NPT threads, been awhile since I've dealt with one though (on the bottom drain). Harry

That took a lot of googlefu to figure out when i did it. plus it was only like 4 threads.

I have found that there are actually about 3 different thread styles on those totes. I have an industrial supply place that stocks "banjo" products and they have the different adaptors.

Metal would be even better...
they usually comes with a metal cage I think... at least all the craigslist ads usually have them but never had the means of transporting it back home... would be weird to put it on top of my Honda and drag it home that way...

I know... That's the irony. Removing the cage to use it for something crazy, then building reinforcement for the liner.

The plastic bladders are great for rainwater collection but they do need the support that you've just removed from it.

The only time I've ever seen the plastic liner used outside of the cage was a guy at work that cut up the cages for firewood storage to move with his tractor - he cut the plastic cube diagonally and used that as a "roof" to cover the firewood bin.

I have a bunch of those but cut the bladder so it provides more coverage from our sometimes horizontal rain. Works great.

I have a dozen I use for firewood, they work great. I was trying to figure out what to do with the bladders, hate to waste them. Put them on market place for 10$ and everyone sold. I still have one lady asking if I'm getting more, probably should have asked 20$
I would never consider using a gage like that as a manlift basket, they are easy too flimsy. Plus I see fork baskets advertised for a few hundred $$$, they have to be better than an ibc tote.

I wonder what people are using the containers for? storing rain water?

Fill with water, a little fertilizer, and slow water stuff during the summer.

And having 300 gallons of freshwater put back just in case it’s never a bad idea
