Hi All,

I have been wanting to get this set to add to my junkyard bag for awhile, but it has never come back in stock at any of the local Harbor Freights. Does anyone know if this has been discontinued?

Thanks

It’s brand new. And only certain stores carry it.
I'd never heard a "certain store" rule on it (or anything else for that matter).

I think they're selling 'em pretty fast. I'd just call and ask a manager when they're expecting some in the store.

Based in metrics, Harbor Freight determines what items go to what stores. Not all stores carry identical product ranges. And they are not able to place special orders.

Shows up online at Harborfreight.com as "in store only". A quick check of local stores shows that half of them have it in stock.

I got mine when they first came out, and the store had to dig for it. I showed the store associate a picture of it on my phone and they dug for it which is unusual because, most times they just nope, never seen it with new stuff. I don't think it's discontinued.

I've been checking the website every day for nearly three months for it to show in stock. It never changes and there is no notify me option.

New member🤪 here! 1€ = 1$ (parity)

For a week I've been researching available locking flex head bit ratchet sets made by HI-FIVE TAIWAN. in my country, apart from FACOM and USAG, the most available brand isn't ICON (US trading brand) and whatnot but KS TOOLS (geman trading company) and TOPTUL (taiwanese manufacturer). Either company sells various(!) boxed compilations with this ratchet+extension pairing, and also the parts alone, which i find intriguing.

The smallest ks tools boxed set 918.3015 was(!) retailing at 26€ (France II/2022, gemani I/2022). The corresponding toptul GADW3401 (18€ cost 🤫) is retailing at a same 26€. Currently, due to the global economic situation, prices have been hiking and availability has gone down, so I'm still empty-handed because I'm undecided between 55€ for the ks tools or for the toptul GADW4501 shipped.

Anyway, I am going to end up with either a toptul set or the ks tools or just the ratchet parts by ks tools [KS Tools 918.1590] or by toptul, lemme think.

If you don’t absolutely have to have the flex head, I would highly recommend this 38 piece set from Sunex instead:

I bought one for myself last Christmas and gave another away as a Christmas gift. These are quality sets and are warranted for lifetime use. They are made in Taiwan, not China if that matters to you. The price has gone up since I purchased mine, but it is still $15 less than the Icon set, and you can order it off of Amazon with free shipping.

noob here (i'm da big poster on bladeforums nm). for a week I've been researching the best (available) bit ratchet sets with the same flexible head bit ratchet. in my country, apart from FACOM (?), the most available isn't ICON (trading brand) and whatnot but KS TOOLS (trading company) and TOPTUL (manufacturer). Either company sells various(!) sets of the ratchet+extension combo, and also the parts alone, which i find intriguing.

FYI Just to give you some perspective, the ratchet alone costs 16$ only, the extension 3$, and that's all we really need, no? The ks tools boxed set has been retailing at 26$ (France II/2022, gemani I/2022), and if you're okay with ICON charging +19$ for the <bits set w/ nice plastic box>, then fine. I'd be fine too i guess. Note that the corresponding toptul GADW3401 still costs a same 26$, hard to find, temporarily out of stock at my local dealer's.

Currently, due to the global economic situation, prices have been hiking and availability has gone down, so I'm still empty-handed because I'm not willing to pay 52$ (for a toptul or a ks tool equivalent set): that's basically +100%🤯 of what the stuff went for, only 4 months ago. Crazy i'm not a *ucker.
( the sellers not even the manufacturers can be blamed for the price hikes .. imho we consumers should simply hold still, stop playing go-along, but wait for the situation to settle to sane fair levels )

Anyway, I am going to end up with either the toptul or the ks tool‎ 918.3015 or just the ratchet parts, it's just a matter of time: which stuff becomes available (=in stock) at a fair prewar price (26-36$) first, where i live.

All in all the ICON price (40-45$) is fair enough imho and hopefully i'll get my hands on the equivalent set soon too. You guys just plz doht think that the ICON set is really worth that price level.

In summary: The honest retail value of the 'ICON set' is around ~26$ (16+3+7) because that's what my week's research has been pointing to. Sorry for all those who forked out 126$ to greedy sellers of overpriced brandname products (hats off to the French marketing geniuses!). Go figure, i almost paid 42$ for a discounted Lacoste basecap (retail 75$ LMAO :ROFLMAO:), now i've got a box of 4 basecaps from H&M which have similar impeccable quality and look even better! price: 5.99$ each (II/2022)

facom lacoste capitalism at its finest! :poop:

Where are you based?
i am based in gemani (or Germany as i call it).
master outillage in France has great prices: ks tools set 25€, facom 60€, have it shipped to your hotel!
or just the ratchet parts,
I've got plenty of bits, and only really wanted the ratchet and extension,
motointegrator in gemani has the toptul 16€ ratchet, 3€ extension, and 26€ boxed set in stock (2022-08-05), inexpensive (mas shipping), good to see! Of course, i'd want a box, otherwise it's too easy to lose the ratchet around da house.

Shoppers in France had a chance to get the ks tools box with the infamous 911.2080 set for a total of ~40 from amzn francia, amazing value! I pulled the trigger on amzn gemani, i like the smaller weight&size than toptul, nice red color, TORSIONpower™ bits, life-time warranty.

good to know, all of the mentioned ks tools stuff is made in the taiwan (incl. the bits!), not the chinas. and btw on the internets you may see pics of the ks tool set with black or with red inlays🥰

Hey Kresil! Thank you very much for your advice. I couldn't resist either and had to get that KS Tool set...(twice - we're still on gj, aren't we? ;)).

Received the stuff today! Beautiful quality, as expected, either set was sealed in original vacuum shrink wrap, in addition to the retail cardboarding. On the backs of the two ratchet parts, the laser marking says both "21C"; caht be a HI-FIVE product code then, could be a production datecode. Everything is as expected … except for the colour of the hard plastic inlay. I had expected red colour, but my unit is black inside. I called amzn and asked about it, and the young lady offered me a partial refund which i accepted. 😁

Btw the ratchet has —from what i can feel/count— 60 dents, not 72. And the total weight of the box is 341g not 204g. The total height of the ratchet with an installed bit is ~27.0mm (26.85 - 27.15mm, depending on the bit tolerances), i.e. only 2.0mm taller than the bit length itself (25mm standard nominal length), very good!

As imagined, the weak spot of the plastic box has to be the red latch. It could easily break, if you stepped on it by accident. I like the hard plastic inlay though, feels durable.
