While I'm not personally sold on the Icon brand, and I actually think they are overpriced/over hyped for what they are (imported tools), I just wanted to share my initial impressions (pseudo-unboxing of sorts) of this Icon metric 10mm-19mm 60 degree offset double box end wrench set.
I've not used them yet, as I said this is my initial impressions, so opinions could change with time and use. I also only own one other Icon tool, a 1/2" ratchet I've actually never used, but also never got around to returning (too late for that now).
Having said all of that, I like these wrenches so much I had to post about them. There also isn't much out there about these. I only found 1 or 2 videos. In general it's difficult to find honest Icon tool reviews from the non-HF shills that HF recruited (gave free tools to) when Icon was released. But anyway...
I have to say these are damn nice wrenches for $60. A bit more than I was wanting to spend, but I think they are a good alternative to the cheaper (Sunex, Geardrive, Duratech, etc.) or the more expensive (Capri, Dewalt, Tekton, etc.) sets out there. There just isn't much to choose from in the offset wrench world.
It's not a crucial hard use tool for me, but I've wanted a set. I wasn't about to pay tool truck prices for them. And let me be clear, these are NOT Snap On wrenches. A good copy perhaps, but I won't be comparing the two brands otherwise.
Overall, they feel good in my hand, they don't feel cheap or like holding a brick. The chrome is nice. I posted a picture comparing them to a few other wrenches. Not the best pictures, especially with the glare. The chrome is so reflective, it's like a mirror. I found no burrs or rough/sharp edges anywhere. The broaching seems even, smooth and centered. I didn't measure them, but the 60 degree offset is nice and not as "extreme" as the 75 degree variety, but more than 15 degree or 40 degree. While I don't plan to use it, the set did come in a nice hard plastic "organizer". I also feel like they didn't have to compensate for terrible quality by making the beams or ends overly thick (or cheap out by making them too thin for that matter).
