Not impressed. We just got done assembling the full line up and it just didnt have it. We had an end locker that was dented in shipping and a 56 hutch that was fairly tweaked. The biggest issue was the overall fitment across the multiple pieces. Nothing lined up and mounting the pieces together were an out right pain in the ***. The powder coating was fairly orange peeled and very thin. Hard to justify the current price

That kind of describes what I saw in the store the other day. Basically it was like the whole toolbox was tweaked in one way or another.

I will say they were incredible well packed and the damage was purely from distribution. They mounting of all the seperate boxes is where i really got pissed. Some werent even doable and swapping casters to other section led to a stripped nut. The drawer slided also seemed frail

My store just got the ICON boxes in. Ignoring the price, the overall quality seems great. I want one, and I just bought a 56" top and bottom a couple years ago.

I like how the drawers on the big box feel compared to my Series 2 56", and the lockers and hutch are a really nice configuration. The only imperfection I saw was on the hutch, there was an area of the powder coat that looked irregular, almost like a piece of Saran wrap touched the side. Functionally, the hutch was perfect, just the cosmetics on the side were inadequate. If I purchased the box at full MSRP, I would 100% expect an exchange or partial refund. While not ideal, I could live with this imperfection with a discount, but the fact of the matter is that a box with this condition should have never even made it as a floor model.

That said, $8k for a 73" roller cabinet and hutch is too much for me. I think it's a little beyond the store's target audience, all things considered. $4k for that combo would be closer to what I had in mind and what I'd be willing to pay.

I think they are very nice boxes honestly... However I feel like they need to be half the price.

my local HF just got an Icon box. Its tough to tell if a grade of sheet metal is thicker between an Icon box side by side with a US general but both seem sturdy.

I did take note of one major difference between a comparably sized (2" ) drawer between the two. The US general at full drawer extension had a small bit of wobble when you grab the drawer pull and try and twist it. The Icon on the other hand had virtually NO wobble when you tried to twist it. Like i said these 2 were side by side so you could go back and forth between them.

I also noticed that the drawer slide (comparable 2' size) drawers had a much beefier drawer slide for the Icon vs the US general. I do believe the drawers are deeper in the Icon cabinet I was looking at so the firmer feeling is probably a function of the beefier drawer slides.

Now for the much higher cost you have to ask yourself whether that price premium is worth it. I can't say for me I can justify the increase, but i suppose if this is how you would make a living then maybe. I also like seeing the addons like the Hutch which are not available in a non-Icon brand.

But it was nice t finally see one in person. The paint quality for both (Icon & US General were pretty good so who knows they both might be painted by robots for all i know. Durability and long term functionality is hard to say at this time. But definitely NOT a crappy box.
