That looks like an animal shoe of some sort.

Or possibly it was nailed onto a hole or a slot in a piece of wood for a rope or cable to go through.

It looks like some sort of animal shoe. My brother in law is a farrier, I'll see him later today and ask him if he knows.

I don't know what it is, but certainly nothing to do with horse shoes. Its smaller than his hand and even ponies/miniature horses hoofs are bigger that that. Plus, the holes don't go all the way through and isn't flat on both sides. Something meant to sit flat and support something.

I agree it has nothing to do with horse shoes as the holes don't go all the way through and it is too small.
I am hoping the 33 will be the clue eventually.
This came from the garage/ workshop of a guy who started wrenching back in the 1940's. And from the cars and parts lying around he was into the 1920's -1950's cars and trucks.

This unlocks the secret. The "33" gives it away. It is an exclusive bottle opener for Rolling Rock beer bottles.

Talked to my brother in law, it's definitely not a horse
shoe or horse shoe related.

Shoes are made on foot shaped form called a last. That's not it.
