Hey all, I am getting these fine tools from my father in law for christmas. He is giving me a benchtop Guardian drill press, this grinder, and I can pick one of these belt sander/disc sander combos. Here are a few pictures of the grinder and drill press.

Grinder, supposed to be a craftsman I think. Works great, no bad vibrations.

Here are three pictures of the sander in question

And a side view with the motor, the other side with the disc does not have a table on it for holding things against the disc. It says it has an induction motor. You can see the table for the Skil sander in the left of the pic above.

There is also a Skil belt and disc sander combo, model 3370. Which one should I take? Any other experience or advice with any of these items?

I'd have to see the Skil sander to give an opinion, but my 1"x42" belt sander gets used all the time in my shop. The Taiwan sander looks like it has a good steel table, which is a plus. I have never changed the tilt of my sander table. I squared it up when I got it and have not touched it since.

Check and see if it is easy to change the belts. I managed to set the gap around my belt so I can work the belts off and on without touching any adjustments. That way I can change grits quickly.

Yeah I have already messed with the belts, I think I can swap to a different belt in about 15 seconds. A couple wing nuts hold the cover on the side, and the belt slips off real easy. At the top is a spring tensioner. As far as not having a table for the disc side, is that much of an issue? Or could I just make one myself?
The skil is model 3370, I looked it up on google, had a review in a popular mechanics magazine. I think I am gonna go with the green one, it came from a machine shop and seems to be of great quality.

The belt /disc sander look's just like the one I have. I bought it from ENCO i never could get the table for the disc to fit. And the disc for the paper was soo out of balance it would shake violently so I never used it. I don't know if parts are still available for them or not? I got mine 10 years ago or so.

The disc does seem a little out of balance on the green one. I think it is because of the holder for the paper. I may try and make a table for it.

That grinder is a Craftsman block grinder. It has a water pot and light, nice piece. To bad the label is so bad.

is the water pot for cooling a work piece as you grind? I am thinking of getting a new label made, the rest of the grinder is in immaculate shape. thanks!
