Is that solid or hollow? If hollow it could be a sight glass of some kind?

I put my eyes on it tonight. It's 30 inches long, solid glass with metal caps on each end. Looks like and insulator of some kind. It weighs 30 pounds or so.

I would agree with an insulator or spacer for high voltage use. Probably kept the phases apart. Could also have been for very high power radio transmitters, when wire antenna were more common than towers.
