ID this clamp

Got this on loan..buddy retired and sold his body shop,only clamp he kept.
It was given to him by a then retiring "old timer". I would like to get one exactly like it,its a champ.

The welds make it look homemade to me

I see evidence that a robo torch was used to cut it.
That may have been a low scale operation but dont know
anyone that has that at home. May not be a good pic of jaws
but they are serrated like a vise jaw,this is whats key to making this work.
Im sure I could even whip one up,but got so many things on list this isnt
a high priority.

edges are just too crisp
its at least 30 yrs old so waterjet was not used

My guess is someone repurposed the parts, probably off a piece of heavy equipment or possibly some farm equipment to fabricate this which I would call a pulling clamp.
The ends look to be torch cut and not smooth like the rounded ends.
You could replicate it will some heavy plate and log chain hooks, any welder could make you something similar if you show them the one you have.
I would also say it looks like it could be very dangerous to use if you don't understand what can happen when pulling something heavy with a cable.

In the auto body business its an accepted fact that pulling under great tension is very dangerous. Normally chains and air over hydraulic rams are used as the stored energy isnt so great,This is a pulling clamp but used for pinchwelds.
bolt holes appear to be punched not drilled.Still looking for something similar thats ready made,yes I can build one but would rather focus on something else that cant be bought

Im guessing you referenced the 601? any idea how much?
