I acquired a few boxes of miscellaneous tools and this was among them. I might have something else that goes with it but don't know what it is. The three pieces feel like cast aluminum, about 5-6" long. Any thoughts?

It’s a hub/drum puller setup and is missing one of the arms and the disc that the puller bolt threads into.

Seems like arms of a puller. Bright ferrous metal would be more likely than aluminum; Magnet test results?

Not sure who actually manufactured them, but this model puller was available from a number of different tool "manufacturers" over the years:

Indestro 248 3-arm hub puller - 1959 Indestro Catalog No. 22 pp 68.jpg

(* Just a wild guess, but I would imagine OTC was probably OEM on a lot of them. *)

(* You can sometimes find oddball pieces for them listed on Ebay - generally the arms. Biggest issue we had with them as rentals was users putting air hammers on them and buggering the threads. *)

Good news is, I put a call in to the guy who is responsible for getting the building cleaned out by the end of the month. He found the threaded shaft and donut and will put them aside for me until next week when I can pick them up.

The parts were steel as was suggested, and he only remembered the two jaws but I will make the effort to get the other parts and another jaw as this is something I might use.

These pullers were made to pull rear drums that used a internal taper to attach them to the axle. Think late 40's early fifties and a few continued into the 60's. The flange type rear axle eliminated this drum mounting system. This was a locking taper with a keyway that absolutely could not be removed without the puller and even then it was a job to get them off. Studebaker and Chrysler used them the last I remember. You install the puller and tighten lugs down and then use a sledge to hit the wings on that nut and then beat the h*** out of the end of the puller bolt and after a hour or so of that, the hub would come off.

Maybe 3baygarage could help, if these things are similarly shaped/sized? over on the 2020 garage sale thread, page 50 post #991:

Misc.: Mack valve lifter tool, Bonney pliers, Snap On punch, Blue Point screw starter/magnet, Vlcheck pliers, Matco screwdriver, Indestro alligator wrench, and a puller leg.
