I picked this up today. I was told it is a Snap-on, but I really don't think so. The gauge of the metal is too thin. I think they were just going from the sticker on front. Anyway, it does look a lot like some older Snap-on boxex, but there is no stamp on the back with a model number. Also, the paint is kind or an orange peel finish. It does have the neat lift out tray on the top though.

If anyone knows who might have made it, I'd be interested in learning. If there is any possibility it is a Snap-on, I'd like to know that too, but it just seems to be too flimsy to be the genuine article.

Thanks.

Can you open one of the drawers and take a picture of the slides. May help to narrow it down.

Do you qualify for a "you ****" award? :bounce:

looking at the front of the box frame,
i'd guess maybe a waterloo made box

could have been sold under several different brands

Look for a stamp on the back, if it is SO it will be then, maybe faint. Otherwise stack on comes to mine. I don't know if it was truly on purpose, but beside the name, older stack on look like guess what SO.

I will say that having owned a few 60's snap on boxes it definitely has the color/patina of a 60's era box. No major rust from first look.

Check the bottom corner of the side for stamp

Here are the pictures of the slides. The bottom box slide is more like the Snap-on of the 60s. The top slide has some sort of clip that makes it a lot easier to get the drawers out than SO. I'm pretty certain it is not a repaint as the inside of the cabinets have the same orange peel paint. I paid $50. It would have been a killer deal if it was a real SO, and I'm not unhappy with it even with it being a knock off. No stamps I could find anywhere, sides or back. It may be a Stack on. Well, at least it has a neat SO sticker.

Edit: I've done some looking at Stack On boxes and I'm thinking that that's what this is. Here's one from ebay that I think is a little newer than what I have. The genuine SO boxes seem to have the cover on the top sit in between the stays whereas the Stack On have the lid sitting on the outside of the stays.
