I recently bought a house with an attached garage. The floor is concrete but is currently covered by very old indoor/outdoor carpeting. It seems like it may have been a decent marine grade carpet from back in the day. At any rate, it is worn badly and you know who wants something done about it.
I live in the northeast so the main issue is snow and salt. You can't help but drag it into the garage during the winter. At this point, let me shoot down the idea of moving to where it doesn't snow. Way ahead of you, but no can do. Gotta deal with the winter.
The problems. The floor does not have a drain. The floor is not sloped toward the garage door and even if it were, there is about a one inch lip from the floor to the driveway, upwards.
If I were to put new, good carpeting down, it will still get wet and hold the dampness. (No heat in the garage). If I put down some kind of matting, there is no drain, and again the moisture. If I finish it with let's say epoxy, no drain and cannot squeegee the water out due to the lip.
Parking the car outside until spring is not an option either.
Anybody who has a similar situation please chime in. I am on an information gathering mission. Thanks in advance for all input. It is greatly appreciated.

Depending on what type of soil your home is built on you could always add a drain. I've known people up here in Michigan that have cut pieces of their garage floors out to add a drain (both with and without a drain tile attached). This might be a low cost way to take the drainage issue out of the equation.
