Somewhere along the line in the distant future I'd love to start my own tool truck, so this thread was started to talk about tool trucks in general and what you see in a good tool truck, what you'd like to see, and suggestions and improvements for tool trucks so go ahead "post"!-

what i would like to see

-tool trucks that have stock available when you want it instead of waiting for most things to be ordered,

-more choice of brands, where i live in australia the only tool truck is snap on! And while snap on has blue point, blue point over here costs more than most top german brands so if i started a tool van i would have a cheap medium and top line brand

so yeah, post some suggestions for a tool van here! :)

You can have a lot, but you can't have everything.

Where abouts in Australia are you? I'm in Brisbane, and there are plenty of tool trucks/vans around here, same as Sydney when I lived there. They sell everything from Sidchrome to KC Tools, ABW, Stahlwille, Toledo, you name it. Thats pretty much a price point for everyone, most automotive type tools are covered, they're very handy when they turn up.

Not saying what you want to do won't work, it just may not be as open a market as you think. Keep an eye out it most industrial estates and you'll see a few floating around. The key to making one of these work is turning up regularly, bringing in the bits that have been ordered promptly, EFTPOS facilities, and being in a position to offer a use and pay type of credit. Even the smallest of vans I have seen offer this (not that I'd use it, but lots do).

Theres not much difference from the small, privately owned/run vans to the franchised Snap On ones in services available, just they cater to different price points.

"tool trucks that have stock available when you want it instead of waiting for most things to be ordered." Hmm, are you currently a tech. some where? Most of them seem to think all parts depts. should have many more parts than they do. It's all based on what SELLS, not what is tried and not used or "would be nice to have".
