Ideas for Baseboard...?

The sheetrock in my garage goes down to about 1/4" above the cement floor in most areas.

In other areas I have exposed cinder block. On one wall it sticks out about 3", with the "holes" in the cinderblock exposed; and on another wall the cinderblock is fairly flush with the sheetrock.

I'd like to put in a fairly neat and uniform baseboard throughout my garage. Something that will hopefully keep the bottom of the sheetrock from getting wet.

Can anyone give me any ideas...?

Thanks,

- Patrick

I used 4" grey Base cove moulding. Home Depot. Slap some base cove moulding glue on it with a trowe (sp) and your all done. Simple. Works great and looks great!

Here is a poor pic of it.

Pat,
I wash my shop almost daily. Trying to keep the drywall dry has always been a problem until I came up with a very simple solution. I simply get a 4'x8' sheet of marine/walmanized plywood, cut 6" wide strips and put them up then paint. You can use a different color for a border effect or paint the same as the walls and it almost disappears. Havwn't had to replace a piece of drwall in over eight years.

PS. Match your drywll thickness and it is almost a flush joint. If you have to - get the next thicness smaller than your drywall and caulk the seam. That way when you wash the walls the water wont sit in the joint.

Just an additional comment for readers who might be still in the planning stages of building a new garage:

If it's a priority for you, building a stud wall on top of a course or two of block gets your sheetrock up off the floor.
