I just placed my order for racedeck and I am trying to figure out what to do with the stem wall that runs the perimeter of my garage. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Congrats on the RaceDeck. Anything is possible on the wall. How tall is it? What wall finish do you want? I have seen several garages here where they have put about 36-42" of beadboard or other tough finish to cover the lower portion of the walls. Several have used corrugated metal sheets. If it is just pitted concrete, it can be covered with furring and drywall. Or, just build more cabinets and workbenches and you will never notice it.

Post some pictures and other ideas may start coming in. Good Luck on your project.

Yeah, I realized I forgot to provide additional info. The stem wall is 4" tall. I will be painting the drywall above it.

I thought about painting the stem wall as I am trying to keep it as narrow as possible but I still want to cover the gap between it and the race deck. Maybe vinyl cove moulding will work. I have my reservations about that as in the past I've had it fall off over time in other areas of the house.

The top of the stem wall is rough and I am thinking about affixing a board to it to give it a more finished look. However, I am not sure what my options are as far as anchoring it. I've used the powder actuated fasteners when I finished my basement, but they weren't really countersunk enough to cover (didn't matter with basement framing). Is adhesive a good option?

I was trolling the forum for pictures of what others have done, but I didn't really find any.

For only 4". its more of the edge of the slab for the house. That is the exact same condition that I have and there are some serious holes/voids in mine. I originally painted it when I stained my floor, but when my RaceDeck goes down. I will probably go with either a vinyl wall base or painted wood base. Liquid nails would work fine for putting wood base on this condition. Vinyl base has an adhesive made for it that works well.

I used the vinyl cove on mine, but the adhesive didn't hold up through the hot summer. So I put some liquid nails on it and that did the trick.
