Ideas for keeping water away from wall

I added an addition last year that included a two car (separate doors) garage.

This past winter, after we pulled in our SUV after driving in snow storm, I noticed that there was a bit of water that reached the base of the wall. See the attached picture -- the red area marks where there was a bit of water.

Keep in mind that we had a LOT of snow that feel off the SUV so I'm not concerned about the overall level of the floor. I have drains on the floor where both cars sit and they did a good job of taking most of the water. When the cars pull in from driving in the rain, I don't have water migrating over to the red area at all.

Anyway, I'm about to paint the floor and before I do so, I'd like to add either a small upward taper or a small curb to the edge of the garage floor to keep water from coming up to the wall itself. I'm thinking of something no higher than 1/4" or so.

I figured I'd remove the rubber wall base, then trim the base of the drywall so that it stops about 1/2" above the floor.

Then, here are my various ideas for the ramp or curb:

1. Use some vinyl concrete patch and create a small ramp, maybe 6" wide, along the length of the way. Taper it from a feather edge up to about 1/4" thick by the wall. (see the blue line in the attached pic)

2. Hot glue some scrap toe molding to the floor about 2" away from the wall then pour in about 1/4" of self leveling underlayment.

The other thing I could do is just not worry about it, since this is a once-in-a-blue-moon event.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

Yep, already have one of those. Looking for a permanent solution before I paint the floor.

Thanks.

I don't know if your up for the work but I had the same problem with some areas in my garage and this is what I did. At one of our cement block supply houses I found some 3'' wide floor drain channel that came with a slotted grate for the top. This channel was 3'' wide by 3'' deep by 3 or 4' long and would connect to other pieces. I took a cement saw and cut a 6'' swath in the floor.

I removed the cut concrete and put this channel in the center of this ditch, keeping it about a 1/4'' below the finished concrete floor. I then tucked sand mix concrete on either side of this channel to cement into the floor. Yes it was some more work than you mentioned but it sure looks nice, especially since I had my floor epoxy coated. Oh I did drill some 1/2'' holes in the bottom of the channel to let the water drain into the ground.

I cut a few inches off the bottom of my drywall and installed a strip of composite deck trim. It's sealed to the floor with urethane caulking. This past winter I had almost 1/2" of water laying up against it several times and it didn't hurt it at all.

It's hard to see in the photo but there's a J channel on the bottom edge of the drywall.
