ideas for smoother transition between fireplace & tiles

What can I do to make the edge/transition between the fireplace and new tiles look smoother? Will sanded caulk do the job or do you have a better suggestion? What about regular acrylic? I want to hide the imperfections because I couldn't get the tiles edges to line up with each other, as in 1st and 4th pictures.

I was going to use gray silicon to conceal the jagged edges until I realized how shiny and ugly it is.
I've thought about using flexible baseboard/trim too, but I think i don't think it'll go well with the bricks.

Any help/idea/suggestions are welcome!

I think sanded caulk will clean the gap up nicely I would probably also go with a color that matches the grout. Using filler rod in the areas where the gap is bigger is probably good idea too since the sanded caulk can get pricey. Nice job Laying to tile too, it looks good.

Thanks! It was HARD but I did it. Do you think I'm asking for trouble to fill them with grout or mortar?

No I don't think there will be any negative side effects from filling it in with either one. Personal id use use the same grout from the tile to fill in the gap. Probably be a good idea to tape off the brick so u can protect it from staining or getting dirty from the grout or mortar and using that tape line as a straight edge so u can get a nice clean line.

^^^ This, just did something similar and the grout will finish it off nicely.

I would have to look at the whole layout of the room, but I might have backcut baseboard to match your existing baseboard and wrap it around.

I'd use the same grout that you used on the tile. Good job on the tile by the way.

It looks too late for this but you could have removed some of the mortar on the bottom course of brick and slid the very edge of the tile under it just enough to cover the edge. Then repack with new mortar, or…

This is how my fire place is done. The hearth is raised up for seating and in a half circle around the firebox just the opposite of yours, mine protrudes outward. Its river rock and the bottom course had been purposely left partially un-grouted for this exact reason. If not, the flooring would not look so good where it would of had to been cut around the uneven surface.

If it bothers you that much and you cannot find another fix, it’s always an option, but a lot of work though at this stage.

Just grout it, the only person that will notice any imperfections is you, funnily enough most people will not be looking intently at the edge of your grouting when they visit!
