Could use some help here on ideas for temporarily insulating my garage ceiling for the winter. I've insulated and rocked my attached 24x24 over the course of the last month all except for the ceiling. Some other more pressing projects have come up (according to my wife) and I just won't have the time to finish this the way I'd like to until next spring.
I live in northern MN. Some winters can be pretty brutal. Anywhere from the teens to -40 is what I'm up against during the winter months. The main goal here is just to help keep the heat in. So far I've been thinking of using a thick poly and stapling it to my rafters, 1" styrofoam boards, or buying that reflective insulation bubble wrap stuff you see at the big box stores.
Anyone ever successfully done something like this in my kind of climate and been satisfied enough over the winter? Or is it not even worth the hassle and just bite the bullet and go buy some r38 batts and send it?
Any advice appreciated.
