I have a tiny condo in Mexico that we try to get down to as much as we can but not enough. It is a ground floor unit where my dogs like to sit and tell the other people how important they are. The problem is that the gate is at the bottom of the stairs and is small so I fear my pups will try to make a break for it if others disagree IMG_3495.JPG

So I welded up a gate to put at the top of the stairs and I am kicking around how to hang itIMG_3507.JPGIMG_3510.JPG
The considerations are that there is an hoa so I will want to remove it quickly and there is an angle where it won’t sit flat plus some weird molding

You can see that the base of one wall is a tile back.
I thought about a simple eye hook and two “drop in” hinges but I would love something more secure. Thank you for any ideas in advance!

Ps amazing what a grinder and paint will cover!

I think your idea of a couple of tabs with holes at the top for pins to drop into is a good idea. Then the gate can just lift out easily.

At the bottom I would put some angle-iron tabs far to the outside so they aren't trip hazards. Could also mount this feature to the walls because on the floor it would mean drilling or trying to glue to your nice tile.

Many temporary pet fences are hinged (so they can be self standing) and collapsible. If you make it so the hinges can be locked in place and have good overlap to the door sides, that may solve the problem.

That’s the genius idea I didn’t think of! Thank you. I was so focused on attachment point I didn’t think to have it lock At the hinge. Thank u

Also I thought of a baby gate. My dogs laugh at those. I have / had one at home

What about tacking steel feet to bottom ? Three feet inside and three feet outside perpendicular to gate should keep from tipping .

Make it free standing you mean? I thought about that, however, one of the pups is at the point where he can open doors in my house. So thats another thing I need to work around. Yes, he actually opens doors, even if they have round handles.

So I am looking for something that I dont have to worry about him figuring out a solution and getting loose.
