I'm also interested in this! I have a spare tire for my car, my car has no space for a spare in it, so I need to store it in the garage. Right now it is under my refrigerator.

If your intention is to keep the tire from degrading from the elements, you could buy the premade tire holders from Tractor Supply type stores. The spare tire brackets are designed to bolt to the trailer frame, but could easily be lag bolted to wall stud.

If you have a welder handy, you can make one of these brackets. They are usually around 30 bucks, but I make my own. There is less than 3 bucks in metal in one.

Why have a spare if it isn't kept with the vehicle it fits?
I you have to remember to pick up the spare from the garage every time you go somewhere, you will forget it that one time you really need it, guaranteed.

In my case it is because it doesn't fit the trunk, and the size is not very common, so having a spare at home allows me to have someone bring it to me instead of letting my car sit at a tire shop for a few days while they order a replacement and the tow that may also damage the car.

I had read somewhere that it's not a good idea to store tires close to electric motors. Something about gasses (ozone??) given off from a running motor can eventually cause damage to the rubber.

ONE tire? Throw it on the roof. Shove it under the bench. Lean against the wall. Store above cabinet.
I have around 40 tires, and 30 rims to deal with. Made a couple of tire racks on casters. Done.

I have a hard time buying this one C4Cruiser. Spare tires stored outside will rarely last 5 years with the sun beating down on them constantly.

I don't disagree about the ozone thing, but you would have to have a **** load of electric motors running to put out the ozone (which is a form of oxygen) to beat what mother nature does everyday.

Anyway, back on topic. Let us know what works for you storing the one tire.

This is what I did with my boat trailer spare even painted it to match my trailer. Uhm, I painted the bracket not the tire. Works just fine except my spare tire has been flat all season. -nothing to do with the bracket, more to do with my selective laziness...
