Looking to possibly upgrade this push in rubber grommet/shut off valve set up for my portable generator. The tank is plastic with a 9/16" dia hole. There's more room to enlarge the hole if needed. I'm looking for something a bit more substantial that would have an internal tank nut/washer. Thanks.IMG_20220918_140826.jpg

Briggs and Stratton still uses an all in one fuel filter and shutoff that is installed only with a grommet in a plastic tank. Maybe simply upgrade to the latest design? I know this isn't what you asked about, but the manufacture is still using it (warranty, liability issue etc. don't seem to be a problem.)

Honda GX engines used a washered, threaded fuel filter. The tank bung is threaded of course, but if you can nut the back side of the filter in your situation, you could install that type of filter and then run an in-line shut-off of your choice.
