Hey all, My dad gave me an old toolbox. I have no idea what kind it is Can someone help me identify it. I want to clean it up without removing all the dents and dings that make up it's history. The only part numbers I can find are on the slides, Drawers and inside the slide rails in the box. The numbers are as follows: 8 1947 on the slides and 8 1948 on the drawers and inside the rails. No other numbers on the box anywhere.

If it's Snap-on there should be manufacturer/date/model # info etched into the back. They can be pretty faint, especially if they've been painted over.

Yes, it has a Snap-on decal on the top, but the profile of the drawer handles and the bolt-on front cover handle appear different than my Snap-on boxes of that vintage.

Since photos do funny things to perspective, can you shoot a close-up of the front and side of the drawer handles and the front cover handle?

Look carefully in the corners of the outside back of the box. Snap-on usually stamped the model and date there.

I'll have another look. It's the drawer handles that initially had me wondering, and I can't seem to find a date. It seems to have orangey red paint under the current paint in some areas. It almost looks like a Kennedy box I saw somewhere online but I have no Idea who wouls have sold it around here.

Here are a couple of more pics. The only numbers on the box are the 8 1948 in the sides where the drawer slides go. Doesn't seem to have any other numbers. Could they be in the bottom corners on the back? If so, I'll never know because the metal is rusty down at the bottom.

Thinkin I'll just pick a nice colour and get a nice decal made up where the logo used to be..unless I can figure it out the brand.
