Identify a Mikuni carb. from a 20+ year old generator

Hi all,
Can anyone help in identifying this 20-25 year old Mikuni carb from a Mitsubishi MEG 5800 generator?
Also, trying to remove the main jet, I damaged the screwdriver slot badly...the needle is seized I think...should I leave well alone or try using a lefyt hand extractor to get it out? My concern is maybe I wont find a replacement jet?

I think I see the following numbers in one of the photos....

U851
Also numbers on the butterflys.... some sort of mark with 190 on one
and 6 on the other.

Any help appreciated.

Did it say Mikuni on the float bowl? I don't see where it says Mikuni on it anywhere. Could be a Keihin carb. Doesn't really matter though as jets and misc carb parts are very similar to each, especially for a basic carb like that one. I hate to say it, but cheap knock off Chinese carbs are easy to find on Ebay, might be an option.

For that age carb you do have more adjustability than modern carbs. So there is some logic to use a screw extractor and salvage that carb. Also, those screws on a Japanese carb that look like common philips heads are not. They are JIS-philips which has a diferent tip and notch profile such that standard US-philips screwdrivers will quickly ruin the screw and may keep you from getting them loosened or tightened. If you plan to work on Japanese carbs, buy a set of JIS spec philips screwdrivers.

Thanks folks,
I will order the chinese carb, it is for the model of generator I have.
Not sure where I would find carb jets.....I'm in Canada so may be difficult.
Do the fuel spigots that fit the fuel lines screw out....one of mine is broken?

The Cobbler.....I take it then if pressed in there's little chance of removing what's left and replacing it unless I drill it out??

The new carb should come with the fuel fitting. What brand and model number is the generator ? Check with Jacks Small Engines and see if they show a replacement. Everything I have bought from them has worked perfectly.

As long as the replacement bolts on and is sized for the approximate displacement of the engine, almost any carb can work.
There is a difference between "work" and and work well.

On a generator, if the engine can not maintain a smooth, constant 3600 RPM, the voltage will drop as well as the frequency (Hz). Not good !

I agree on the carb update. For a device meant to run at a constant rpm the carb selections become much easier. Not like trying to select a carb for a motorcycle where performance and feel/response are both critical to the carb selection and jetting setup.

Thanks guys.....I'm disappointed that I cannot salvage the original carb, but have ordered a Chinese replacement. seems strange to me that the fuel connections are not threaded in...a simple crack or break as in this case renders the carb irreparable.
